Another great day...
All the girls were on their best game today and showed great strides forward.
Caitlyn continues to show her skills in the bottle and breast-feeding department and has nourished her way to a solid 4 lbs 10 oz -- I'd like to say it's the Mama's power shakes but alas it's not all from me - all the girls are getting a supplement in their milk specially formulated for premies. Caitlyn and Mama had wonderful cuddles today - she is a wonderful snuggler! The great news is that Caitlyn could be coming home as early as Friday!! This is both fantastic and fear inducing news...we've got a lot of mental and some practical preparation to do....
Emily made concerted efforts today to get through an entire bottle on her own -- she's very close to reaching this goal and I suspect will get to this milestone in the next days. She had some terrific one-on-one time with Grandpa Bill today who sadly will be heading back home tomorrow :-(
Heather too was not to be outshined by her sisters...she cracked the 2kg mark today and followed Caitlyn's lead in attempting to master the suck-swallow-breath technique while feeding. Papa did a great job of coaching her through her evening bottle and she managed a good portion before tiring out. She had great cuddles with Papa tonight and offered the occasional melt-your-heart smile so that he would not put her down.
As planned, all the girls were taken off of their "starbucks fix" of caffeine and will be monitored over the next few days for any worsening of apnea and bradycardic episodes. So far so good...
Anyway - more pictures to come tomorrow - I'm too tired to get them off the camera tonight...
Thanks again for the interest, thoughts, support, prayers and well-wishes - we feel so blessed with these girls and the love and care of family and friends.
