Summer Daze....

Well it's warm here in our city...not a heat wave by any stretch, but warm. Warm enough that it's uncomfortable in the house at night. The babies are fussy tonight and my thought is that they are feeling the heat as well.

Today was a "lazy" summer day. That said, neither Jer or I were at all lazy - in fact we were quite productive. We're gearing up for some family visits from the Lantville and Victoria Fraser clans - it will be great to see everyone and get a bit of extra help as well.

Caitlyn, Emily and Heather had a relatively good day. So far, the days are quite sleepy while the evening is filled with fussiness and crying. If you were to drop by in the evening, you'd typically find one or both of us cuddling one or two babies, CBC radio on for company and intellectual stimulation (this week on Ideas, we are enjoying a fantastic series of Massey lectures by Wade Davis), and depending on the day, likely Jer will be asleep with babe on chest. Not a bad way to spend an evening...

We actually had no appointments and no commitments today so it was a home day for all of us. Jennifer had a great morning with friend Alannah who took her to the park amongst other activities - it must have been a great morning as Jennifer talked about it with her dolls all through her nap time...<sigh>. On a very positive and encouraging note, Jennifer used her potty for the first time!!! She informed me that something was going to happen, asked for privacy (in fact, closed the door behind me as I left) and...voila! The whole experience was actually quite scary for her, so Papa and I spent much time congratulating her and later peeling numerous batches of stickers from her pyjamas, the latter being a fun incentive for using her potty.

So...another day of growth and joy for all. What will tomorrow bring? I hope some more sleep!
