It's hard to believe but the girls (babies) are now "2 weeks" old. For premies, the age is always "corrected" to the term due date - June 22. so, despite that they are almost 3 months old, they are considered developmentally to be newborn. Regardless, they are sweet!
Well it's been just over a week that we have had all three girls home. The first initial days we were supported by the Aunties (Stephy and Cindy) but now, Jer and I are going solo so-to-speak. We do have wonderful supports through friends and neighbours, including daily support from our former neighbours Madelyn and Alannah who have generously offered their time each morning to help us out with either Jennifer or the babies. In addition, one of my friends, Maureen (bless you!) has taken to dropping by every once and a while to help us out. Today, she must have had a sixth sense of when to come by as she arrived just as I had to quickly head out to a (forgotten) appointment, leaving Jer with little Jennifer ready for a nap and Emily and Heather ready to eat. Having the extra hands was key!
Our days are busy and we are left tired at the end of it and hopeful for some deep sleep and extra hours in the day - alas the sleep is brief and we are starting all over again the next morning.
As for the babies, they are all thriving. They were checked again by our paediatrician early this week revealing little concern overall. Once again, Heather heads up her sisters in weight coming in at a solid 8 lbs 2 oz. Emily, not shy of competition, weighed in a close second at 8 lbs 1 oz. Caitlyn, happy not to be leading all of the time, fell in at a respectable 7 lbs 13 oz.

I had all of the babies at the Children's hospital yesterday for a brief consult with an Occupational Therapist about the girls' feeding. Everyone did great and, it appears there is not the concern there was when they were in the NICU. All of the girls did well and likely will need little to no follow-up. Heather is still showing some signs of needing a bit of extra support; however, nothing too serious.
Caitlyn and I were at the Children's hospital again today for another eye exam. Unfortunately, I missed the morning appointment however we were slotted into the afternoon (thankfully). Her eyes have matured now fully and she won't need another exam until November. At that time, Emily and Heather will be checked again as well.
Jennifer....well she is just lovely. Daily, we are entertained and invited into giggles and a world of imagination with this delightful girl that we are fortunate to get to call her our daughter. She is smitten with her sisters and can often be heard saying "she's lookin at me..." or "she loves me"....
What joy are these four dear girls to us.
